Konfoundation e.V. is a non-profit organization acting in Sierra Leone that was founded in 2016 in Germany by married couple Mohamed and Lena Konneh as well as Lena’s sister Elisa. As Mohamed was born and raised in Sierra Leone, we feel a profound connection to this small African country.
“Since I was born and raised in Sierra Leone I have seen poverty in all its cruelty. I’ve always struggled to see people suffering because I don’t think any human being deserves living in such degrading conditions. Since there is no governmental support, poverty is passed down from generation to generation. We want to get people out of this chain of poverty and not only support individuals but change Sierra Leonean societal structures to help those who need it the most.”
“I’ve always been a strong supporter of developmental work. I first encountered poverty during my first trip to Uganda, Africa. It was that moment when I decided to stand up for those in need. I am determined that every human being is equal and deserves the same rights. It is of importance to me to make other peoples’ lives better. This is what we’re pursuing with Konfoundation e.V.”
